This project for the City of Albuquerque involved the renovation of ~3,000 square feet and addition of ~8,000 square feet to the existing Explora Science Center and Children’s Museum. The new spaces were intended to house assembly, vocational, classroom, and restroom areas. EEA provided MEP systems design and construction administration services for the project. Mechanical systems included variable air volume DX rooftop units with terminal reheat, and spaces were served with a combination of concealed and exposed ductwork. Plumbing systems for the facility expansion served new restroom and concession areas and connected to existing utilities on site. Extensive site work at the existing facility was performed early in the design phase to ensure utility tie-ins could be performed with minimal impact to the remainder of the facility.
EEA was subconsultant to Studio Southwest Architects on this project.
