EEA is conducting a lighting retrofit in its Austin office the week of August 11, 2014. Every work area will have a vacancy sensor and most spaces will have dimmable switches (as seen in photo below). These simple retrofits are taking us from 11.54 kW of lighting before to 5.31 kW of lighting after the retrofit. This amounts to a 53% reduction in operating kW and 1372 KWh saved each month (~$176). Through the US EPA website Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator we can calculate that we are removing the equivalent of 2.4 passenger vehicles from the road or 27,030 miles/year driven.
