John Makar serves EEA as a Principal of the Industrial, Department of Energy (DOE), and Federal Government (non-DOE) Market Sectors with over 18 years of experience in HVAC and plumbing design, project management, and construction management in both the private and public sectors. He has extensive background in leading cross functional teams in completing complex projects and has experience overseeing projects for clients in the federal government, municipal, industrial, higher education, and commercial market sectors.
Before joining EEA in 2015, John served as an active-duty Engineer Officer in the United States Army for more than 11 years. During that time, he earned the rank of Captain, and deployed overseas three times, commanding soldiers at the Platoon and Company level in garrison and in combat.
John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from the Missouri University of Science & Technology, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in 10 states, a certified Project Management Professional, a Certified Energy Manager, and a LEED Accredited Professional with the BD+C specialty.
When he’s not working, John enjoys watching his children play sports and music as well as traveling with his wife Lauren, and children, Danielle, Gregory, and Katherine.
