This summer EEA Consulting Engineers hired three interns. Read about them below.
James Daughtrey – EEA Retail team
As a fourth year this fall at Texas A&M University, James Daughtrey, who is from Pleasanton, Texas, is studying mechanical engineering.
He serves EEA’s retail team with mechanical and plumbing designs for new and existing buildouts of commonly known national retailers and EEA clients like GAP, Inc., H&M, William-Sonoma, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta, Coldwater Creek, West Elm, Quicksilver, Fossil, Pottery Barn, and others.
Why do you want to be an engineer? I have an investigative mindset and attention to details.

Daniel Salinas – EEA Higher Education team
Daniel Salinas is an incoming senior this fall who expects to graduate this December from The University of Texas at Austin. Daniel is studying architectural engineering with an architectural studies minor and hails from Edinburg, Texas.
He serves EEA’s higher education team with drafting/modeling work on Revit and AutoCAD for projects like the Downtown Austin District Cooling System and Midas Greentech. He’s also done some commissioning work for a large corporate campus.
Why do you want to be an engineer? I’m very passionate about architecture, space exploration, sustainable design, and environmental science, and I felt like engineering was the best bet at getting involved with all of those things. As an engineer, architect, and environmentalist, I would like to specialize in sustainable design and MEP systems optimization. I also want to design structures for hostile environments, whether they be research stations in Antarctica, Mars bases, or underground nuclear bunkers.
Favorite Austin restaurant: Flower Child
Share something unique about you that most people don’t know: I enjoy downhill longboarding, and I even own an electric longboard that I use every day. Also, I’m working to one day become a NASA astronaut.
Ryan Suckow – EEA Military & Commissioning team
Ryan Suckow is an incoming senior this fall at The University of Texas at Austin studying mechanical engineering. His family has lived many places with his father in the Air Force, and most recently has been in Helotes, Texas outside San Antonio.
He serves EEA’s military engineering and commissioning & sustainable design team. So far Ryan has worked on two projects. The first is a retro-commissioning project. EEA is evaluating the existing systems at two corporate campuses in Austin to figure out strategies to reduce energy consumption. The other project he’s working on is for Waterfront Phase 2 as the company makes the move to Austin and EEA designs part of the new campus.
Why do you want to be an engineer? The opportunity to serve others by working on meaningful projects.
Favorite Austin restaurant: Taco Joint or Cabo Bob’s
Share something unique about you that most people don’t know: My dad taught me to ski before I knew how to walk.
