Gold Office Building
The Champion Office Building Complex consists of two buildings that are mirror images of one another in the hills of west Austin. Each building encompasses approximately 125,000 sq. ft. of floor area. At the end of the project, the building received LEED Gold Status for core and shell.
How It Was Done
In order to take advantage of the views, the concept architect designed a project with extensive floor to ceiling glass. The building energy efficiency was accomplished through the air-conditioning and lighting design. The air-conditioning consisted of water-cooled vertical self-contained units on each floor and series flow fan powered VAV terminals utilizing EC Motors. Condensate from the air-conditioning is being recovered for use in the irrigation system and for make-up on the cooling towers.
