University of Texas at Austin – Hogg Memorial Auditorium

Built in 1933, Hogg Memorial Auditorium was the first theater on campus and was part of the “Union Group” buildings, financed almost entirely by student and alumni efforts. The auditorium was named after James Stephen Hogg, the first native governor of Texas. Hogg has served as a hub for various aspects of campus life since it opened its doors. Throughout time, it has been the venue of choice for lectures, debates and traveling plays.

EEA’s scope on this project included MEP systems commissioning for the renovation of the Hogg Memorial Auditorium building in the UT Austin campus. The Scope requirement was to commission the project to meet both the Fundamental and Enhanced with monitoring Commissioning requirements for the LEED for New Construction rating systems. The intent of the commissioning work was to ensure that fundamental building elements and systems were installed and calibrated to operate according to the design intent and the owner’s operational needs. HVAC systems, domestic water heating systems, lighting controls, and electrical service and distribution systems were all commissioned as part of the project scope.

Deliverables provided: In addition to other commissioning related documents, design review deliverables for this project included PDF markups of reviewed documents as well as completed document review forms indicating item, document reference, reviewer name, discipline, comment, action required, action taken, and date closed.

This project received LEED Platinum certification (and is UT Austin’s first Platinum renovation project).
