As Chief Operating Officer, John oversees EEA’s day-to-day operations, including project delivery, staffing and utilization, organizational performance, and the processes that support the firm’s employee-owners and clients.
John has more than 20 years of experience in HVAC and plumbing design, project management, and construction management in both the private and public sectors. He has led cross-functional teams through complex projects for federal, municipal, industrial, higher education, and commercial clients, including central plants, laboratories, and federal facilities. Before becoming COO, he served as a Principal leading EEA’s Department of Energy in California and Federal Government market sectors.
Prior to joining EEA in 2015, John served more than 11 years as an active-duty Engineer Officer in the United States Army. He attained the rank of Captain and deployed overseas three times, commanding Soldiers at the platoon and company levels in garrison and in combat.
John earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley; a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology; and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in 10 states and is a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and LEED Accredited Professional with the BD+C specialty.
When he is not working, John enjoys watching his children play sports and music and travel with his wife, Lauren, and their children Danielle, Gregory, Katherine, and Alexander. He also volunteers as a Boy Scout leader, youth baseball coach, and is on the building committee at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.
